A new video walk-through of my bullet journal! I’ve been playing with my camera and editing programs for a while trying to get a video out. It’s been a whole new learning curve for me. I know I have room for improvement, but you are never perfect when you first start learning, right? Anyway, I hope you enjoy this little look at my bullet journal. I go into a little more detail on what did and didn’t work for me in October below.
October was the first month I used this layout and I love it. I see myself using this layout for many months to come because it seems to maximize the space allotted by my Leuchtturm1917. This style calendar layout fits me a lot better than the traditional list form for a monthly that is outlined in the original bullet journal guideline. Mainly, I like the visual aspect of it. I like being able to easily divide the weeks and recognize what days of the week things are happening with a quick glance.
This month I went back to the daily layouts I like best. I was trying to experiment the last couple months, but ultimately this layout is the most comfortable for me. I don’t need anything but a ruler to make my entries, which is nice because my 6″ one fits in the back pocket of my journal and I can take it anywhere. Some of the layouts I’ve tried in the past were just too cumbersome to do on a daily basis. The whole point is to get the info down on paper so you don’t forget, so cumbersome isn’t effective.
One of the things I continue to struggle with is adding color and decorative elements to my pages. I have a tendency to either keep things too simple or to go overboard. I love my plant washi tape and feel like it always spruces up my spreads, but when I reach for stickers I have trouble getting them just so. Maybe it’s just my natural aversion to color that makes it difficult for me? I’ll keep working on it though, as I have so many cute embellishments I want to use up.
For November I’m trying to keep things mostly the same. Since the monthly layout for October worked out so well, I’m kept things similar for November. I will be trying out some new weekly layouts this month that meld the layout I love to use with a more organized weekly view, so stay tuned until this time next month to see how it goes.
If you have any questions or want to see more details on anything, please let me know! And now I want to know, do you like to experiment with new layouts in your bullet journal or do you stick to what works?
