Hi there. Welcome to Classic on the Sidewalk, a shiny new blog on the internets. My name is Cindy; you can read more about me here.
To get right into the post, can I just say that sometimes inspiration comes from unexpected places. This summer, for something fun to do, I joined a 3 week long Community Band in my area. This past weekend was our concert after just six rehearsals. It was a lot of fun, but there was a dress code, and I always seem to struggle with those.
When I read that we would have to wear khaki or tan bottoms and plain black on top, I was weary. Luckily I had one pair of pants that would work, but I hadn’t worn them in ages. I bought them a couple years ago because I liked all the outfits I saw floating around in the blogsphere, but for some reason I never really felt like they worked for me.
Now, though, I’m really inspired again to try to make these work. I liked pairing them up simply with a plain black top (we were told as plain as possible by the band director, this was the best I could do). Next I want to try stripes, make it super classic. I never would have guessed how much I could like this outfit.
Have you ever had to meet a specific dress-code or uniform requirement that lead to inspiration for future outfits?
