This week went by particularly quickly because I was out for training for work from Tuesday until Thursday. Being a working girl, taking a three day class with homework and quizzes and a final exam is sorta a fun change of pace, but I would definitely not want to be going back to school like the rest of the country is geared up to do right now. I’m happy heading to work and having that whole school chapter behind me.
Though, I still love school supplies! As far as use goes, I’m glad they are all going towards journaling and crafts these days. I recently got this awesome pencil case from YesStyle, which I just tacked on to my clothing order. I also got these neat little paperclips at Ikea on my last trek out. Why do I seem to find the best office supplies at non-office supply retailers?
On a slightly different note, I’ve been really liking my new jeans this week. I’ve been making some orders from several online retailers over the last month (most of which hasn’t worked out for me and gone back). One of the things I really needed to add to my collection was another pair of jeans, since I live in pants these days. With the dirty environment at work and the heat these days, my pants don’t make it past a day without needing a wash. :/
Being petite and having put on a few pounds in the last couple years, jeans shopping has been particularly tough. I’m thankful to retailers that offer petite sizing, but it gets confusing when things aren’t listed with the proper lengths. These jeans, for example, are from Loft. When I placed my order, I cautiously ordered my size in both regular and petite. This is because the regular inseam was listed at 28″ and the petite size at 25″.
I’m short, but 25″ would be high-waters on me (or I guess the trend is ankle pants at the moment). As much as I like the trend, I can’t wear ankle pants to work. I’m glad I tried out both sizes, though. The inseam measurements, at least for my size, were really off. The regular was way too long and the petite just the right length.
But the things I really noticed in my order was the real reason why petite sizing is so important for shorter girls. It isn’t just about finding the correct length, but also the right fit. The regular had so much extra material in more than just the length, and simply hemming them wouldn’t have worked. Neither would sizing down, since they actually fit correctly in the waist and thigh.
Comparing these two sizes side by side really puts into perspective for me why pants shopping has always been such a struggle. Have you ever come across a similar issue?
